The Wedding of Lindsay & Derek

Over New Year's Eve I was lucky enough to travel down to New Orleans for a wedding. Great right? Well if it wasn't already fun enough to spend New Year's in the Big Easy, this was also a very special wedding for me. It was the wedding of my sister, Lindsay, and my new brother-in-law, Derek!

I shot their wedding video in a small chapel in the French Quarter and it was beautiful! Then we proceeded to party on Bourbon Street for the Reception.

Here are some stills taken from the video:

New Business Card Design

It's been a while since the last update and a lot has happened. It's been a busy couple of months and I promise I'll be uploading some pictures and video from several weddings and projects I've done very soon.

In the meantime, I designed some new business cards recently and they were delivered yesterday. I'm very happy with them. Double sided, glossy, rounded corners, all that good stuff that we like! If anyone would like some cards, send me an email!

Here it is:

A Friend's Wedding

It seems like I've been at weddings every weekend lately, and tonight was no different - except that at tonight's wedding I was a guest, not a videographer.

I drove up to Indianapolis today for the wedding of a good friend of mine. It was the first wedding I've been to in a while that I wasn't working at and honestly, it was kind of bizarre. Throughout the entire ceremony, I couldn't help but notice the little cues I would use to know when certain things are about to happen and my mind kept wandering to how I would shoot what was happening.

Funny, but I guess I'm just a videographer at heart.

The Importance of the Wedding Video

Over the past few years, I've filmed a lot of weddings. Expensive ones, low-budget ones, multi-cultural ones... all different - but there is one thing that always seems to be the same: When I ask the bride and groom individually how they are feeling they almost always say, "I'm just ready to get it over with."

People enjoy their weddings immensely, but they can be very stressful events. Often the bride and/or groom is so busy making sure everything goes right and making sure they are doing everything right that the entire day just slips away from them. This is where the importance of the wedding video comes in. A wedding video is really the only way to go back and experience the day all over again. It has the ability to let you be a guest at your own wedding and see all of the things you missed or were too busy to notice on the day itself.

So if you are planning a wedding, keep this in mind: Pictures are wonderful to have, but a good video is every bit as important. If you skip the video, you're skipping out on a lot of great memories you won't find anywhere else.
